The Somatic Approach

About Me!
My name is Avrie, I am 27 years old, & was raised in south Florida! I am a nature lover at heart and have many creative passions outside of this therapeutic work that I do.
I am certified as an Integrative Somatic Practitioner from the Integrative Wellness Academy. I am incredibly passionate about the work that I do, so much so, that it has become my lifestyle more than my work.
I have struggled with anxiety & panic disorder my whole life & somatic healing has helped me find safety in my own body again. I have learned that we do not heal our broken parts overnight. There is no quick fix. We heal through practice, self-compassion, and continual integration.
My intrigue and curiosity of alternative therapeutic approaches and self-healing has always been apart of my life. It all began when I started practicing yoga 9 years ago! Yoga brought me a sense of stillness in my mind, flexibility in my body, and overall capacity for life that nothing else has.
Embodied Elements was born through this passion for healing, movement & service to others.
My greatest desire is to be a gentle leader, into the unchartered territories, and to help people feel sturdy within themselves to courageously live their life, no matter what their past is.
-"somato" refers to all of the soft tissues of the body
-"soma" means body in Latin.
-Somatics is the study & practice of exploring and understanding the fabric of your "soma" through internal awareness and any practice that utilizes the mind-body connection to survey your internal self to recognize pain, imbalances, and discomfort. The somatic approach creates a pathway to the inner landscape.
Somatic Work is considered complimentary and alternative medicine to medical therapies and is classified into mind-body techniques, nervous system work, & emotional processing. Somatic practices are not replacements for any type of medical treatments, but are available to aid in a more holistic approach to all of the intimately connected parts that equate to the whole self. Through these practices what we are holding, bringing the body back to its own homeostasis & natural way of being.
We are constantly receiving feedback in our being in the form of symptoms. In the era of instant gratification and topical treatment, somatic work helps us to dig deep to root causes that may lay beyond the initial physical or mental symptom.

Testimonials:
"It was one of the most relaxing experiences that I've had when it comes to therapy. I've always done talk therapy, but somatic therapy with Avrie allowed me to have a breakthrough, help regulate my emotions, and practice grounding. Highly recommend going to Avrie who's an extremely down to earth person and very knowledgeable. "

"I had the pleasure of working with Avrie over the course of many months as I navigated one of the most challenging emotional times of my life. She not only held space for me, but also guided me towards being able to feel and identify the strong emotions I had, and taught me the tools I needed to process them in a healthy way.
I highly recommend her to anyone who needs help getting in touch with their inner self. She’s a loving and kind soul who will help you create a safe environment where she not only makes you feel seen, but also a place where you are free to just be. My one on one sessions with her were a place of rest where I could just be my full human self, without censoring myself. In having a safe place to express myself, little by little I was able to heal myself. Even though I learned a lot from her, I would definitely work with her again in the future. "
